5 Suitcase Packing Hacks To Save Space

1. Choose Your Clothes Carefully
While this may sound obvious, really think about what you’re going to wear each day. Plan ahead and make a list to ensure everything is clean and ready to go before you pack. Packing last minute can lead to rushing and packing lots of items you don’t need or that don’t actually go with your other clothing choices.
Choose light plain tops that go with anything and see whether you can manage with only one or two bulkier pairs of jeans or trousers. Light accessories can help you change up outfits without needing to packs lots more clothes. Only pack formal items if you really think you’ll need or you’ll be attending an event.
Old glasses cases can be used to store jewellery and other small items and belts can be either rolled or place along the outside lining of the suitcase.
2. Buy Reusable Mini Bottles
These are great for decanting shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. While you could just buy mini ones, reusing the same plastic bottles for each trip is better for the environment and much cheaper too.
3. Stuff You Socks In Your Shoes
This one is an oldie but a goodie. Shoving your socks into your shoes really is a great space saver. Worried about your shoes making a mess of the other items in your suitcase? Cover them with a shower cap to keep everything else nice and clean.

You can also place underwear in your bra cups which both saves space and stops the bras from getting squished out of shape during travel.
Additionally, always pack shoes at the bottom of your suitcase near the wheels to help keep your suitcase balanced and prevent it from falling over.
4. Suitcase Packing Hacks To Save Space: Combine Folding and Rolling
Rolling is a great space saver but folding has its place too. Using a combination of both should save the most space. Remember to fold, rather than roll, items that crease easily and layer with plastic for particularly delicate items. Underwear is best folded too.
5. Wear As Much As You Can
Wearing your bulkier items is a great way save space in your suitcase and it can help keep you warm on the flight too (personally I always find flights really cold!).
If you have bigger knitted items than you need to take, wearing at least one of them could save you loads of space in your suitcase.
Layer things up with a vest, long sleeve top, jumper, coat and scarf for the flight. Also, think about wearing boots rather than trainers or pumps if you’re not travelling to a hot country.
And Finally . . .
Keep everything in your suitcase smelling fresh by adding some dryer sheets between the layers.
Don’t forget to weigh your suitcase before leaving home or else you could be stung with extra charges at the airport – the whole point of packing more efficiently is to avoid having to pay out more money for an extra case.
