On our recent holiday to Haven Devon Cliffs, we spent the day at World of Country Life, which is located right next door. This is our World of Country Life Devon review, which will hopefully cover everything you’d want to know about heading there for a day out.

What Is There To Do At World Of Country Life?

While World of Country Life may be smaller than some other attractions in Devon, it still offers plenty to do for the whole family.

Country Life Museum

As soon as you enter World of Country life, you’ll be directed to the rest of the park via the Country Life Museum which is full of farming equipment from days gone by.

There are lots of interesting exhibits, some of which children can climb on, such as the train pictured below.

On the other side of this room, there are lots of old-fashioned shops to explore. You can also take a good look around this area on your way out or if the weather takes a turn.

Outdoor Play Areas

There are loads of outdoor play areas at World of Country life and the majority of our day was spent flitting between them.

As we had arrived nice and early these weren’t too busy, even though it was a Saturday on a Bank Holiday weekend.

Our daughter’s favourite of these was the giant Snakes and Ladders board which has a wheel to spin the numbers.

Other outdoor attractions include:

Three large trampolines, all with safety netting.
Zipline, Slides & Tyre Swing
Farm Themed Play Areas
Ninja Warrior Style Mini Obstacle Course
Harry The Harvester – Large combine-themed climbing area with ladders, steps and tunnels.
Giant Bouncy Pillow
Maize Maze – During the summer holidays only.

There are also a few outdoor activities that carry a small extra charge such as crazy golf and Dougie the Digger.

Indoor Play Areas

There are also plenty of indoor play areas making World of Country Life a great option even if the weather isn’t looking too good.

There are three main soft play areas spread out across the park and these are aimed at different ages. There is also a bouncy castle, a huge pirate ship play area and an indoor puzzle zone.

Animal Encounters

There are loads of different animal encounters throughout the day at World of Country life, including Ferret Racing, Goat Walking, Bottle Feeding baby animals and Duck racing

The one we were most interested in though, was the Birds of Prey Display. This can get really full so make sure you arrive early and be aware that the birds fly and swoop over the audience.

The talks about the birds of prey were really informative and it was amazing being able to see the birds so close up.

We also had a wander around just to look at all the different animals, pet them and say hello. The highlight was finding a baby goat with the same name as my younger brother!

The Deer Train

We absolutely loved the Deer train and my husband says this is one of his favourite things we’ve done on any day out in the U.K and we get out and about a lot!

There is a small extra charge for the Deer Train and some deer food which we paid for on arrival. I would say this is 100% worth paying extra for. You will then be given a time to arrive for your Deer Train experience.

Once everyone is safely seated on the Deer Train, pots of food are given out and the train heads over to the deer paddock.

The deer are well aware this means food is coming and run alongside the train which was so much fun to watch.

The train eventually comes to a stop and you can feed the deer from the palm of your hand. The deer will also stick their heads into the train carriages to lick up any deer feed they’ve missed.

We all loved this experience – it was so much fun and definitely the highlight of our day. Booking at the start of your day is essential if you don’t want to miss out.

Would We Visit Country Life Devon Again?

Yes, we would 100% visit Country Life Devon again. It’s around an hour from where we live and we’d happily drive there for a day out as well as maybe plan to visit if we’re staying locally again.

How Much Does Country Life Devon Cost?

As with most attractions nowadays, tickets are slightly cheaper when booking online ahead of time. Under threes can enter the park for free, as can carers who will need to show proof of this when arriving at the park.

You can also buy discounted family tickets for families with two or three children and there are OAP discounts too.

Top Tips For A Day Out At Country Life Devon

Get there early – We did loads while the park was still quiet – there were no queues and the play areas weren’t too crowded.
Book the deer train – Although it’s a few pounds extra it is totally worth it and it was one of our favourite things we have done at any U.K. attraction. Booking is essential to ensure your place.
Take a picnic – there a plenty of places all around the park to eat a picnic, especially if the weather is nice!
Stay All Day – There are loads of things to do here so it’s worth planning to stay for the whole day!
