Are you planning a Butlins holiday? Here is our Butlins Minehead Comfort Apartment Review.
When looking online for accommodation reviews at Butlins, the results are generally pretty mixed, especially regarding the more budget options available.
While I can agree that some people probably have had bad experiences, it’s also worth noting people are far more likely to leave a review of a bad experience than a good one which can end up meaning reviews are a little bit skewed.
One thing that Butlins Minehead offers is accommodation for those on a tight budget, with term time Monday-Friday stays starting from as little as £49 for room only.
Butlins Minehead Comfort Apartment Review
We were actually a bit last minute when booking our break to Butlins Minehead. As we were visiting during Spooktober half term, the accommodation options available were a bit more limited than they might have been had we booked further ahead of time.
Being half-term also bumped up the price a fair bit. In fact, we’ve saved over £400 by booking to go back during term time this year instead.
We booked what I would consider mid-range accommodation, so not the most basic but not the fanciest either.
As we knew we’d be spending the evening in the accommodation we wanted a living space with a sofa and a TV.
Even though we knew would be booking a dining plan, we also knew we wanted a kitchen with a fridge for storing some snack foods, milk and cold drinks.
In the end, we choose a Comfort Apartment which ticked all the boxes without going over our budget.
Butlins Minehead Comfort Apartment – Location

The accommodation we were allocated was in the Oyster Bay area of the resort and the room number was SG108 for Swallows Green. Double-digit numbers are ground floor, 100 numbers are on the first floor and 200 numbers are on the second floor.

It’s worth noting that this accommodation is quite a way from the car park and we had difficulty finding a trolley to load all our luggage onto.
Butlins Minehead Comfort Apartment – Kitchen & Living Area
The living area in the comfort apartment is small but perfectly functional.
While there were signs of wear and tear in our apartment, these were minimal and it was easy to see that they had come from other guests simply using the apartment.
There was no major damage and certainly nothing we felt we needed to complain about.

The kitchen was clean and well-stocked with crockery on our arrival and we appreciated the welcome pack that included washing up liquid, a cloth and a tea towel.

The living area was well-maintained and we liked having a lovely view out of the main window.
Our biggest letdown when it came to the living space was the sofa, which was uncomfortable and small. It was fine for us as a family of three (two adults and one child) but I think it would be difficult for four adults to share without feeling cramped.

The other small thing we would have liked was low lighting for the evenings. There was only the main overhead light and it was just too bright when trying to relax.

If you book this accommodation I would recommend taking a lamp from are there are plenty of plugs throughout (we actually brought an extension lead with us just in case but didn’t end up needing to use it!)
Butlins Minehead Comfort Apartment – Bedrooms
Our apartment had one double and twin room. These were both pretty spacious and there would be enough room for a travel cot in each if needed.

We found the beds really comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe space.

Butlins Minehead Comfort Apartment – Bathroom
The bathroom in this apartment is very small and only has a shower – no bath. Using the toilet can be a little bit cramped.

However, the bathroom was clean and in a good state of repair – other than some small signs of wear and tear which we felt was normal for reasonably cheap accommodation that is used throughout the year.
We also liked the fact there was a heated towel rail which made drying our towels and swimwear after swimming every day much easier.

Premium Dining At Butlins Minehead Review

Butlins Minehead Comfort Apartment – What We Loved
Here are some of the things we loved about our comfort apartment at Butlins:
- Warm – As some that really feels the cold I was worried about feeling chilly but the heating worked really well.
- Close To Dining – We were only a couple of minutes walk away from the restaurant for the premium dining plan.
- The WIFI worked – We found the WIFI worked well throughout our stay (important for me as I’m self-employed and still needed to work while away)
- Comfy Beds – The beds were comfortable and we all got a good night’s sleep.
Butlins Minehead Comfort Apartment – What Needs Improving
Here are some of the things we think could have been done with improving in our comfort apartment at Butlins:
- Sofa – Super uncomfortable and not easy to relax on.
- Lamps – Could be added for better lighting in the evening.
- Noisy – Other guests thundering about upstairs. We weren’t bothered by this as we had our own little one running about but I think some people would have found it annoying.
Would We Book A Comfort Apartment Again?
Yes, would book a Comfort Apartment at Butlins Minehead again. However, we have chosen a different type of accommodation for our 2023 booking.
As we’ll have an extra member of our family we opted for the ground floor Gold Apartment which I *think* should be closer to car parking and has a patio so my husband can vape without having to leave the accommodation
Overall we really enjoyed our stay in a Comfort Apartment at Butlin’s Minehead and it certainly hasn’t put us off returning again this year.
