Today I wanted to share my UK travel bucket list. There are so many places in the U.K that I haven’t visited yet or that I would really like to visit again. Having this list to refer to will hopefully remind me to get booking for later in the year.
My UK Travel Bucket List
When I think about where I’d like to go in the UK these are the places that come to mind first. There is a combination of city breaks, historical places and places I’d like to visit as an adult that I have fond childhood memories of – I want to show them to my husband and daughter.
1. Edinburgh, Scotland
My husband went to Edinburgh on a stag do last year and I’ll be honest I was more than a little jealous! I actually wanted to plan us a trip there for his 30th birthday but current restrictions made it too tricky (I did buy him Hamilton tickets instead though!)
I’ve never been to Scotland before and the beautiful and historic Edinburgh seems like the perfect place to start. I’m also a big Harry Potter geek so there would be plenty for me to explore. A friend of mine recommended visiting during the annual Christmas Markets which is definitely something I would consider doing.
2. York, England
York is another historic city I would love to visit one day and I think it would make a perfect romantic getaway for my husband and me. He has an interest in Viking history so there would be plenty to keep him occupied and of course, there are Harry Potter related locations to find too.

3. Caswell Bay, Swansea, Wales
I know Swansea might not be top of everyone’s bucket list but I often went on holiday here as a child as we had relatives living nearby.
We’d house-sit for them while they were away (this is a great way to have a budget holiday!) and I remember having this one amazing day at Caswell Bay where we spent the entire day on the beach.
I would really love to take my little girl and husband there one day!
4. Alnwick Castle, England
Alnwick Castle is another historical place I’ve always want to visit. While I’ve been to lots of places like this locally, such as Dunster Castle, being on the Scottish border means this is rather a long way to go.

As well as visiting the Castle I’d love to go to the Poison Garden in Alnwick too.
5. Sutton Hoo, England
I remember studying Sutton Hoo in History class when I was at school. I was lucky enough to have the most amazing history teacher who really brought the subject to life and it’s still something that interests me.
My interest in Sutton Hoo was renewed recently after the Netflix series ‘The Dig’.
6. Westonbirt Arboretum, England
Westonbirt Arboretum is another place I visited as a child and would love to return to, especially in the autumn when the trees are at their most colourful. It’s one of those places which seems too far for a day trip but too close for a weekend away which is possibly why we haven’t got around to visiting yet.

7. Puzzlewood, England
Puzzlewood is in the Forest of Dean and frankly sounds pretty magical. I love exploring woodlands and this one looks more spectacular than normal. It’s also been a filming location for lots of films and TV series. There is loads to explore and I can’t wait to make a trip there.
Writing this list has really made me see what I look for in a UK break. I love places that are full of history and that can provide lots of interesting places to explore and learn about. I also love being out in nature and enjoying the fresh air.
