Want to know how to plan the perfect staycation? Here are some tips to make your staycation more interesting and fun or calm and relaxing depending on what you would prefer to do.

A staycation is a break from the normal routine that you can take by staying at home and not travelling anywhere.

Staycations are an opportunity to spend quality time with your family or friends, get work done, or even have some much needed alone time. It’s up to you how you spend your staycation but do make sure you take some time for yourself above everything else.

How To Plan The Perfect Staycation: Relax and Chill

Here are some of my favourite suggestions for making the most out of your relaxing and chilled staycation.

Do all the things that you would normally do in a day but on your own terms – reading books, painting pictures, playing board games, and so on.

Staycationing is a great way to focus on self-care and reduce feelings of guilt from not doing things for yourself while still engaging in things you enjoy.

Why no take a long, hot bubbly, bath?

Indulge in coffee and cake at your favourite cafe.

Go shopping on your own and enjoy the feeling of not having to worry about what anyone else wants to do.

Use a meal prep service to avoid the need to cook but still ensure you can eat healthy and nutritious meals.

Staying home is a great way to get some time off from work or school. But it doesn’t have to be boring. Here are a few ideas for making your staycation interesting and fun.

Take a cooking class: You may have never cooked the same dish twice, but you can learn how to cook something new this summer.

Practice an instrument: Put your downtime to good use and practice your favourite instrument.

Participate in an outdoor activity: Get outside and participate in one of the many outdoor activities available during the summer months. Yoga, hiking, biking, etc – there’s something for everyone!

– Explore your City: Explore your nearest city just like a tourist would. Book a restaurant you’ve always wanted to try. Visit museums and other tourists locations. Find a walking tour to learn about the cities history.

How To Plan The Perfect Staycation: With Kids

How To Plan The Perfect Staycation

Are you having a staycation with your children this summer? Here are lots of ideas for both staying at home and exploring your local area.

Planning the perfect staycation with kids can be tricky. One of the main things you’ll want to do is ensure that it does actually feel like a holiday rather than just your average week at home.

Make sure there are no everyday errands booked in like shopping for school clothes or visiting the dentist. Next, ask your kids what they want to do.

I know budget can be a constraint but the best days out are often picnics in the wood or days at the beach. You could choose to have one big day out at a theme park or other local attraction. Plan at least one activity each day so they know what they have to look forward to.

Here are some ideas to get you started.

– Build a Den: All kids love building dens. Whether you take it out to the backyard or let them take over the living room for a day, building a den with them is sure to provide hours of fun.

-Big Family Movie Night: Whether you choose a Disney Classic or something more modern, close the curtains, throw a load of duvets on the floor and snuggle up for a big family movie night. You could even make your own popcorn and kids could enjoy crafting their own tickets for the showing.

-Wallpaper Painting: If you have an old roll of wallpaper lying around, roll it out and let them get messy. Hand printing, footprinting – anything you can think of!

Bake Off: As parents, it can be easy to put off baking with our children as it’s often so messy! Set aside a day to do lots of baking and then have a tea party to show off everything you’ve made.

Whatever you decide to do with your downtime, hopefully, the tips will help show you how to plan the perfect staycation based on your needs and the needs of your family.
